Reception 2023 - 2024

Mr McCulloch

Mrs McHale

Miss Martin

Welcome to the Reception class page.

Firstly. we would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new families to St John Fisher, and as mentioned, our family. WE will do everything we can to supoport your family and your child on their journey with us from their first day to their last. As a Rception team, we strive to ensure your child has the best possible start to school life, and support them through whatever challenges they may face - so please take every opportunity to talk to our staff members about your child, their progreess, the things they enjoy and anything that might be causing any upset.

The primary form of communication will be through Tapestry, and it would be great to see what you have been getting up to at home with your child, these talking points are a fantastic way to help your child build confidence, but we also have our website page to keep you up to date with any changes or the Topis which we will be convering in class.

If anyone isn't sure, our start time is at 8:40 am, and our day finishes at 3:10pm.

Snack money should be paid weekly into class and costs £1.00 - although this is a voluntary contribution, it helps not only to pay for snack each week, but also to provide different foods for children to try, different and exciting learning experiences, and resources for your children.

Our Topic.

For our very first topic of the year, we will be focussing on 'Ourselves', thinking about how we look, our families, and who we live with. We will be celebrating that we are all made differently and what makes us unique.

Forest School

Forest School takes place every Monday afternoon - Please ensure that all children have wellies and old/waterproof clothes at school, children should come to school in appopriate outdoor clothing as we will be outside rain or shine! Little word of warning here - we might come home a little bit muddy, but always with a huge smile on our faces!

PE:

Although Reception's PE Session is on Thursday afternoon, please make sure that your child has their full PE kit in school every day. We will send home PE kits at half term to be washed.

Water bottles:

Can children please bring in their water bottle every day.

Please remember to put name labels in ALL items of school uniform, things do go missing throughout the year and as much as we endeavour to keep track of things, they do go missing from time to time.
