Reception 2025 - 2026
Mr McCulloch
Welcome to the Reception class page.
Where has the year gone?! We are now into the first part of the Summer Term, and we can't wait to get started again! this half term we will be really pushing on with phoncs, reading and writing, targetting letter formation and some simple sentences to be wrote independently. Please where possible practice fine motor skills, especially now the weather is getting better, using water pistols, pegging out the washing etc.
As always, we will be using Tapestry as our main form of communication, and so if there is anything urgent, use the messaging feature on there. It would be great if we can see some more pictures of the things you get up to at the weekends too, as a starting point for class discussions. .
If anyone isn't sure, our start time is at 8:40 am, and our day finishes at 3:10pm.
Snack money should be paid weekly into class and costs £1.00 - although this is a voluntary contribution, it helps not only to pay for snack each week, but also to provide different foods for children to try, different and exciting learning experiences, and resources for your children.
Our Topic.
The topic this half term will focus on Journeys, and in particular the book 'The Journey Home', a story book which is based around Hattie, a devoted hen, who helps her grown-up, blended family of hatched creatures leave her nest to find their own homes
Forest School
Forest School takes place every Monday afternoon - Please ensure that all children have wellies and old/waterproof clothes at school, children should come to school in appopriate outdoor clothing as we will be outside rain or shine! Little word of warning here - we might come home a little bit muddy, but always with a huge smile on our faces!
PE:
Although Reception's PE Session is on Thursday afternoon, please make sure that your child has their full PE kit in school every day. We will send home PE kits at half term to be washed.
Water bottles:
Can children please bring in their water bottle every day.
Please remember to put name labels in ALL items of school uniform, things do go missing throughout the year and as much as we endeavour to keep track of things, they do go missing from time to time.
